About the Association

The Paramedic Association of Manitoba is the professional association for Paramedics and Emergency Medical Responders licensed in the province of Manitoba.

With leadership assistance from the Paramedic Association of Canada, it was founded in the late winter of 2000 by a volunteer steering committee comprised of rural and urban paramedics. The Paramedic Association of Manitoba was incorporated under the Corporations Act of Manitoba on February 2, 2001.

Representing both rural and urban practitioners, we strive to enhance the role of paramedicine as a vital component in our health care system and promote the highest quality of emergency medical services and out-of-hospital care possible.

The Paramedic Association of Manitoba is not a regulator, an employer or a labour organization. The Association is a voice for paramedics and paramedicine province-wide, advocating in the best interests of our patients and the profession. We are a proud chapter of the Paramedic Association of Canada which represents over 20,000 paramedics from coast to coast across the country.

Since our inception, the Paramedic Association of Manitoba has been an advocate for paramedic self-regulation. In 2012 the Association made application to have paramedics designated as health practitioners under the Regulated Health Professions Act.

Mission Statement

Promote excellence in paramedicine and public safety through
collaborative evidence based practice.
